You cant put out new Blu Ray models because then if they started making games on Blu Ray disks, the 40+ million consoles already out would be alienated. It's not really needed on XBox 360 to be honest. I very rarely use an actual disk anymore, I stream 1080p right to my 360 or whatever.

The best way I could explain it is. We are through with the 5 year console cycles. It's not about that anymore. Both Kinect and Move are "Soft console launches" pretty much those are the new consoles. The redesign is to quell fears of RROD and offer a fresher Xbox 360 for years to come.

I use my blu-ray on PS3 a ton, thats about all i use it for now. But if a Xbox had a blu-ray i might switch

You could have just bought a blu-ray player then, depending on the Ps3 you bought, you may have been able to have gotten a blu-ray player AND xbox 360 for the same amount.

Ya, Stand alone Blu Ray player is bout $99 these days. Holiday time you can find them for like $79 or so.
Also these are "Video game consoles" which Blu Ray isn't required for great games or gaming honestly. People who haven't tried the 360 really don't know what they are missing if they are looking for a great online service and games. The back catalog is massive and really worth checking out, not just Halo and Gears but the whole thing, it's a nice experience.
