| The movie theaters have been overwhelmed by too many gimmicky 3-D releases. It appears there is consumers a consumer backlash. Audiences have been buying cheaper 2-D tickets instead of the costly 3D events. This is making Hollywood very nervous. The new Transformer movie is trying to change this trend by having a big 4th of July Weekend. Its s on track for $170 million thanks to huge promotions billing it as the summer’s 3-D event. This movie is trying to avoid the string of recent 3D disappointments including “Kung Fu Panda 2,” “The Green Lantern,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and have all underwhelmed in 3-D, with less than half of sales coming from the higher-priced tickets | |

| It's always been a fad, and I remember writing a couple of years ago that both movies and video games would suffer because of 3-D. They are slapping 3-D on less then stellar media and expecting it to all be like Avatar.
In reality 3-D doesn't work that well for most things. I could see some movies utilizing 3-D, but they are pushing like every movie to be in 3-D and most don't need it.
I'm one of the movie goers who avoids the 3-D theater honesty.

| This, if you think about it, is all because of Avatar. The 3-D in this movie was spectacular and actually made you feel like in the scene. It also made a fuckton of money. Since it was so successful, everyone is like omgwtf3dsells. Well guess what, 3D doesn't sell, Avatar was just an exception. | |

I agree, now I would like to see the newer Star Wars in 3-D, which they are actually in the middle of releasing into theaters.
