Turn 10 Studios, makers of Forza Motorsport 4, have elaborated on their “creative relationship” with the hit British TV show, Top Gear. The game and show will be integrated on several levels. As revealed at E3, the Top Gear test track will be playable in the game, and the sultry commentary of Jeremy Clarkson will be featured in the new “Autovista,” or as I like to call it, “Car Porn,” mode.
However, the collaboration goes further than that. The show’s Car Soccer segment has been converted into a 16-player multiplayer mode. So, if you’ve ever wanted to kick around a giant soccer ball with a Bugatti Veyron SuperSport, you may just get to live out your oddly specific dream this fall.
In less exciting news, there’s also Car Bowling, which places bowling pins on the track for your supercars to knock over and is about as exciting as the human analog.
But for the coup de grace, Turn 10 revealed that you will be able to take on The Stig, the show’s tame racing driver, to try to beat his lap times on the Top Gear test track. The game will also feature the Reasonably Priced Cars, so you can try to beat the likes of Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, or Cameron Diaz.
Additionally, the game will feature a “Rivals Mode,” which actively pipes in your Xbox Live friends’ lap times and allows you to immediately jump to that race. This should sound suspiciously similar to those who’ve used Autolog in last year’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit; though, given the brilliance of Autolog and my feelings that every game should adopt it, I’ll let it slide.
Forza 4 releases on October 11th in the states and October 14th in Europe.
