A stir has been caused in the gaming community by a recent revamp of the Steam subscription agreement in regards to Valve. The gaming mogul has updated their clause to state that no one in agreeance with the terms and conditions can raise or participate in legal action taken against them.
The drama began when a Steam user inquired with the company as to what would happen if they do not agree with Valve’s updated terms:

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We can permanently deactivate your account for you, remove any stored payment information and clear your Steam profile.

Disabling your account will not result in a refund, as explained in the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

The games in your account will not be accessible for future use. It is impossible to make your games available once your account has been deactivated and your information deleted or archived. Once we have permanently deactivated the account, we will not be able to reactivate the account upon a future request.

Please let me know if you would like to proceed.

It’s not hard to see why some gamers would find this news upsetting. Even if you have no intentions of sueing Valve (I doubt many of us would), the fact that Steam is able to remove all of your games if you don’t agree with the latest update is troublesome.

good thing im in canada and its doesnt affect me! huehuehue

also what sucks is one day there COULD be cause to sue valve. What happens when Gaben retires and Valve is bought by EA or Microsoft? Then they implement some bullshit that actually makes people wanna sue Sad

This type of thing has a massive effect on all gamer's. Even if it doesn't right now, it will eventually. We are heading for download only content, but we will never actually own that content, mostly due to legal issues and licensing that runs out.
