Disney buys LucasFilms, star wars episode 7 announced!

This is terrible news

Actually its not bad news, let's face it, George Lucas wasn't going to make another Star Wars movie while he was alive, at least he passes it on. We will see a new trilogy starting with Episode 7, two years later Episode 8 and two years after that Episode 9.

I'm interested to see where it goes, especially since Disney now owns LucasArts as well, which is the video game part of Lucas Films. Disney obviously will want to make money and Battlefront 3 is a game all Star Wars fans want, so I'm optimistic about this.

Weird when you think that Disney now owns Pixar, Lucas Films and Marvel now, not to mention ESPN and ABC.

As long as Disney doesn't make it a Disney movie, I will be fine. Keep Star Wars the way Star Wars was meant to be. Does anybody know if it's a prequel style trilogy, or a sequel type?

Its supposed to be a sequel to Episode 6, but that could be set a hundred years ahead of Episode 6, so there are a ton of possibilities.

Also, Disney makes the pirates movies, which aren't kiddie at all. Also, the Marvel movies are pretty adult.

I'm interested to see where they take it. It'd be tough to do any of the stuff that's right after the last movie, because they'd definitely need the old actors (imagine anybody besides Harrison Ford playing Han Solo....) but I seriously doubt that would work out. Should be interesting to follow the info on the movie as they release it.

so they have plans for 7,8,9 and more apparently.

That is what I said, George Lucas handed over script treatments to Disney that he had been sitting on. Episode 7 will come out in 2015 and Episode 8 will comes out 2 years later ect....

So they will be using his ideas for the movies and he is still a consultant.

I wonder if it will be anything like the lucasfilms licensed book series involving the Yuuzhan Vong or if it's gonna be a completely new storyline?

I'd personally love to see the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and the main character's kids. I think it was like Ben Skywalker and Jacen Solo or something like that. There's enough material in the post GCW books to make 20 more movies, lol.

I personally wish they had a trilogy based on the history of the jedi and sith, maybe even going back a thousand years or so. This would be extremely cool... or maybe something like the middle years between episode 3 and 4.

That is what KOTOR the game was, it was set like 10,000 years before the events in the Star Wars films.

I'd be happy with something set in the future, I don't want to see a 75+ year old Harrison Ford as Han Solo though, I'd prefer other characters.

Ive heard they said they arent working on battlefront 3 but the mention that the sources is confusing
