A few weeks ago, Sega had released a new trailer of an upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog title on his official Facebook page. The trailer featured him running through the Green Hill Zone and at one point the modern Sonic joins with the Sonic model of old, known as "chubby Sonic" to many. Sega has announced that this is all part of a new title called Sonic Generations that will span across several levels throughout the years.
Sonic's world gets a little bit chaotic as warp holes appear, which pull Sonic back in time. Because of this, he ends up meeting with his former self from the past, so then the modern Sonic and classic Sonic must work together to find out just what is causing this and put an end to it.
The game will span across several of Sonic's previous levels, including the Green Hill Zone that can be seen in the trailer. The player also will have the option to play through the levels in classic 2D style or play through them as the 3D levels featured in the more recent titles. Players will also have a choice as whether to play as classic Sonic or modern Sonic, and each will have their signature moves with the spin dash and homing attack, respectively.
"Sonic Generations will certainly be a fitting celebration for Sonic's 20th Anniversary," said Sonic's Global Brand Director David Corless. "By having the classic 1991 Sonic that many fans know and love team up with his modern day incarnation, we are bringing back the nostalgia of the early days of Sonic and combining it with the innovation and stunning HD technology of the modern gaming era. Sonic Generations will bring to life the last 20 years of Sonic's universe in a truly unique and imaginative way."
Though an exact release date isn't set, Sega has revealed that this title will be available on the XBox 360 and PS3 this upcoming holiday season.

Looks good, I've always been a fan of the sonic games so I'll probably get it, though I'll wait for a used copy and it to go down in price most likely depending on how reviews go.

Footage from the new game, it seems like a great mix between old and newer style, I'm very cautiously optimistic about this game.
