Frank Gore: 'Eagles didn't want to play'

It took three unanswered touchdowns for the San Francisco 49ers to overtake the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

It was a comeback made possible by the Eagles throwing in the towel, according to 49ers running back Frank Gore.

"I think playing that second half and the way we came out, the Eagles didn't want to play no more," Gore said in an interview on ESPN's "First Take."

Gore, who ran for 127 yards in the 24-23 victory at Lincoln Financial Field, capped the rally with a 12-yard touchdown with three minutes to play.

The victory gave the 49ers the lead in the NFC West at 3-1; it dropped the 1-3 Eagles into the cellar of the NFC East.

"We just kept pounding and kept pounding and making plays and we kind of knocked the fight out of them," Gore said.

The triumph came despite a career game from Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who threw for a career-high 416 yards, including 171 yards to DeSean Jackson.

"I think the 'Dream Team' -- that word is dead now," Vick said Wednesday. "You can't talk 'Dream Team' anymore. Maybe it put pressure on some players, maybe it didn't. But I think just the fact that it was lingering around and people were talking about it creates a sense of pressure."

Vick and Jackson connected four times on throws of 15-plus yards downfield for 154 yards. Entering Sunday, they had combined for only two completions on such throws.

"So, it's over with now," Vick said Wednesday. "We're one of the teams that has to scratch and kick from the bottom now and try to figure out how we're going to get ourselves back to a position where we can compete with the best teams in this league."
