Apple sells 4 million iPhone 4S in 3 days

Sales in stores began on Friday in Japan, Australia, France, the UK, Germany, Canada and the United States.

The company took more than 1 million online orders in the first 24 hours after the release of the iPhone 4S, exceeding the 600,000 for the iPhone 4, though it was sold in fewer countries.

Unveiled just a day before Apple Chairman Steve Jobs died, it was initially dubbed a disappointment, partly because it looked identical to its predecessor. But anticipation of its "Siri" voice software helped it set an online record in orders on October 7.

Along with the new iPhone, more than 25 million customers are using the iOS 5 mobile operating system, in the first five days of its release, and more than 20 million customers have signed up for its free cloud services, Apple said.

The latest iPhone will be available in 22 more countries on October 28 and more than 70 countries by the end of the year.

No they are not, they are overpriced pieces of crap. There are much better phones out there for much less money. People just like the name and they are tech whores, so when a new one comes out, they rush out and upgrade to that one. It's retarded.

the iPhones and iPod touches are great products, possibly the only Apple products I'd consider owning, but the problem isn't in the product, it's Apple's StUfF (StUfF for consumer) marketing ways, basically the updated ones usually have a slightly different casing (which the 4S doesn't) and slightly upgraded tech or sometimes tech that isn't really much of an upgrade at all and just added support for a new version of the iOS that supports more features, that could damn well be implemented on almost all the previous versions, so they can milk more money from people.

Aside from the fact that it only costs about $7 to produce an iPhone and they charge $400+ is also disturbing, they cut costs on every corner and EVERY component but don't pass savings down. Where as some of the top Android based phones and Win 7 phones sell for only a little more than the cost of production.

$99 for an amazing fidgeting phone is overpriced? Ya, people who camp out and buy the new one right when it comes out for $400 are retarded, but wait 3 months and they drop $300!
