Treyarch announced yesterday that the first season of League Play for the multiplayer mode of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” is now underway. League Play is a new competition within the game that pits opponents, whether they are a solo player or part of a team, against similarly ranked teams in a new tournament mode. There are several category divisions of play for varying team sizes where players can gain rank inside different subdivisions of the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” League Play mode.
Each competitor will be given a rank that will remain hidden until the end of the season. Winning matches will increase a player’s rank, while losing a match will lower it. Each week, a bonus pool will give players additional points for their first few wins of the week. This bonus is scheduled to reset every Sunday.
At the end of the season, players may finally see their final standings and rank within each given division. The ranks for each of the six available divisions will be based on the top percentile of players, broken down as follows.
Masters: Top 2% of the active population.
Platinum: Next 18%.
Gold: Next 20%.
Silver: Next 20%.
Bronze: Next 20%.
Bronze: Bottom 20%.
