Do you and your Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 team fancy yourselves as the next big thing in competitive gaming? Want a chance to prove to the world that you’re the best?
Then you’ll definitely want to enter the worldwide $1 million Call of Duty Championship tournament!
The Call of Duty Championship is your chance to claim a slice of the $1 million prize purse for you and your Black Ops 2 team-mates, but you’ll need to qualify in your region to get to the event finals in Hollywood in April.
Your journey to the finals begins by signing up at the official website and competing in your four-person team during the currently-on-the-go February season of Black Ops 2 League Play. The top eight teams at the end of this season will then be entered into the 32-team tournament finals in Hollywood.
In addition, the top eight competing teams from an upcoming MLG Winter Championship taking place in Dallas, Texas from March 15th to the 17th will earn spots in the tournament finals, while another eight teams from the ESL’s European Finals (taking place at the ESL Arena live eSports Studios in Cologne, Germany from March 16th to the 17th) will also earn places in the Hollywood finals.
Lastly, the remaining eight places in the tournament will be made up of teams from Asia, Australia and Brazil, with region specific qualification details to be announced at the official tournament site.
Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said of the tournament:
“It’s an absolute honor to have players and fans celebrate the thrill of competition on such a grand stage. From the very beginning of development for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, we committed to making eSports an integral part of the game, and it’s going to be awesome to watch the best teams in the world battle it out for everyone to see.”
