Beta registrations open for new online game and website based on Seth MacFarlane TV show; terms of use reference subscription fees, virtual goods.

Earlier this year, Activision announced that it was making a game based on the Fox TV show The Family Guy. That isn't the cartoon's only outing into interactive entertainment this year, as Fox has set up its own website soliciting registrants for a beta test of Family Guy Online.

While the site offers little detail in the open, its terms of use confirm that Family Guy Online is both a website and a game, and will be run by Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Marketing. Under the terms, Fox "reserves the right to charge subscription fees," and further mentions the sale of virtual goods in the game.

This isn't the first time the show has made the jump to games. In 2006, 2K Games published Family Guy for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PSP. Developed by High Voltage Software (Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law), the game featured the original voice cast of the TV series, including series creator Seth MacFarlane.
